What are the differences between pool, snooker and pool?

Billiards, snooker and pool are three different types of games played with balls. Although there are some similarities between the three, there are some key differences. For beginners, these can be confusing. This article attempts to clear some of the more commonly held misconceptions.

There are many options for each variant, along with rules and scoring systems. Each game can be considered a table sport but each has its unique set of rules. The most popular table size is 8 by 4 feet. There are also more compact versions called pocket billiards.

Pool is one the most well-known table games. It usually involves three balls, each of which has a different color value. When a player sinks a ball, he or she scores a point. A red ball equals one point, while an object or discarded ball equals six points. A game of pool involves shooting the ball off the bank and into the opposite end. The rules may vary from region-to-region.

Snooker, by contrast, is more complex. One player attempts to get the object ball and the other player tries the foul. The goal of the game is to score as many points possible. The "green call", an extra call that is worth three point, will be awarded points to players during the game.

Each sport has its own set of rules, including pool and snooker. Snooker, for example, has a specific rule about the size of the ball. A snooker ball measures 2 1/8 inches, which is larger than a pool ball. A snooker ball is also smaller than a standard pool ball. Snooker balls will therefore travel faster.

The curved pocket lead is one of the best aspects of snooker. It is made from a woven wool that enables it to move faster. Most snooker tables have a net under the pockets for collecting the balls. Snooker has an interesting characteristic: it is much more skill-level than other billiards games.

As a rule, snooker has a shorter history that billiards or pool. It began as a gentleman’s game and was based upon an earlier version of Pool. It was first played on a pool table with pockets. Later, it became pool. Yet, snooker enjoys a higher social standing than pocket billiards.

Pool and snooker are much more popular than billiards. Each game requires a cue stick with balls, cues, and equipment. Each player must play a certain number of frames in order to win. 120 points can be earned by a snooker-player. However, this score is only a fraction. If you are an experienced player in snooker or pool, this comparison might be offending.
