Steve Davis was a dominant force when snooker first became a major television sport. He was a six time world champion and won many ranking event titles. He is an accomplished and well-respected snooker player. He also plays poker. Davis is also the author of several books that cover his career and his position as director at WPBSA. His wealth has increased considerably due to his role as a television commentator and director of the Cue Zone Into Schools initiative.

At the age of 17, Steve Davis became a professional tennis player. He made his first appearance in a ranking event, at the Pontin's Open, where he was beaten by Tony Meo. Davis won many titles after his first season as professional, including three B&H Masters in Wembley.

Davis's professional career was slow at first, but he quickly rose to prominence as the world’s best snooker players. He won five titles in the world in 1988 and 1989. In 1989, he was the first to win The Triple Crown. He was also a first player to win both the UK Championship and the world title. He won numerous other tournaments during 1980s.

The 1990s saw Davis' dominance wane, and he lost a lot of records to Stephen Hendry. He lost the World Championship to Jimmy White which saw him fall to number two on the official rankings. In 1997, Davis lost to Ronnie O'Sullivan and was unable to defend the title. This loss caused him to fall out the top 16 rankings for first time in many, many years.


Davis started to show improvement after a slow start for his second season. He reached the quarter-finals of both the Shanghai Masters and the Grand Prix. He was also named BBC Sports Person of the year in 1988. He received the OBE in 2001 for his services to snooker. He is also a skilled poker player who hosts a weekly radio broadcast on Phoenix FM. He was the 30th person to appear at The Crucible in 2010.

The following season, Davis remained on the top of the world rankings. He won several ranking event titles, and reached the Welsh Open final. His greatest accomplishment was to be able remain in the top 16 after his 50th. He was also on the PTC circuit for several years, including 2012 PTC Masters. He was one three-times past winner of the PTC quarterfinals.

He is also a highly successful commentator, and has hosted numerous snooker matches on behalf of the BBC. He is passionate about music and a skilled poker player. He has a spouse and two children. He is also a DJ. If he is still employed at the BBC, his current worth is PS30 million.
