The World Snooker Rankings Top 10 Players

The official ranking system for professional players in snooker is the world snooker rankings. These rankings determine who automatically qualifies to play in World Snooker Tour competitions. The rankings are maintained by the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association. The World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association provides useful statistics on the sport, as well as providing players with an idea how they rank.

Judd Trump

Judd Trump is ranked in the top 10 worldwide snooker rankings. He is well-known for his incredible breaks and ability to dominate the sport. He has won 23 ranking titles, including the world championship. At only 33 years of age, he is still young and could continue to be a top player in the sport for at least ten more years. However, his age and the grind of the tour may wear him down.

Mark Selby

Mark Selby from England is one the most renowned players in the game. He is a former England under-15 champion and a recent World Snooker Championship Champion. He is also an avid pool player. He was the 2006 WEPF Eight-Ball Pool Champion and a finalist in 2015's Chinese Pool World Championship. Selby was born in Leicester, England. Malcolm Thorne, Willie Thorne's brother, was Selby’s coach.

Ronnie O'Sullivan

Ronnie O'Sullivan spent 280 weeks at top of world snooker rankings. After reaching the semifinals of Tour Championship, Ronnie O'Sullivan's most recent move saw him leapfrog Mark Selby in world ranked. The Scot first reached world number one in May 2002, and has since won 31 ranking titles. His achievements include six World Championship titles and five UK Championships.


Mark Williams

Mark Williams is the current number 10, and one of the top snooker players worldwide. In 1995, the Welshman broke into the top snooker players in the world when he won the Benson & Hedges Masters. He made a respotted in the final to win the title. He was the fourth player in 1998 to win three ranking tournaments, making him the fourth person to do so.

Graeme Dott

Graeme Dott is the winner of two ranking titles. He also reached the finals at the China Open in 2010. However, his form is inconsistent. He has also suffered from depression and has openly spoken about his battle with the condition. The Australian has a low ranking in the world snooker rankings, but has a strong record at home.

Dott's career

Graeme Dott's climb up the world snooker rankings has been steady since 1994 when he became a professional. In 2001, he reached the top 16 and remained there until 2009. He reached the quarterfinals at the Welsh Open in 1996, and the World Championship 1997. He also finished second in the 1999 Scottish Open as well as the 2001 British Open. He was also second in the 2004 World Championship, and the 2005 Malta Cup. 1999 was his first competitive 147 break.

Dotts' ranking

Dott's ranking in the world snooker rankings has fluctuated over the years. He has been in the top 16 on six occasions. He was ranked second in 2007/8 season. Dott has seen his ranking drop since 2007.

Mark Williams' ranking

In the last few years Mark Williams' world ranking in snooker has steadily improved. He has won many tournaments, including in the Players Championship Grand Final 2000. He also defeated Ronnie O'Sullivan in the final. He has also topped several world rankings. But his greatest ranking victory was in 2001, when Anthony Hamilton defeated him in the final of China Open.
