Having a good stun shot in pool is a skill you need to master. It can be the difference between winning and losing. There are many kinds of shots. Each has its own rules. You cannot simply hit the ball. Instead, you will need to hit it hard. The better your chances of it getting pocketed, the harder you hit it.
A stun shot refers to a shot that requires a strong hit. This means that the cue ball must travel straight in in a pool game. This is often achieved by putting a jack up, or elevating the butt end of the cue.
A "break", or shot made at the final OB of a straight game of pool, is called a "break". There are a few different types of break shots. Some are designed to help you escape trouble while others are to help make it easier for you to score. One example is the golden breaking, or the gold pocket.
Another option is the break out shot or break-out. This type is a great way to score quick shots when the ball cluster moves out of position. If your shot is good, it may cause your opponent to be shaken up and put in a bad place. A good hit often results in an OB that remains on the table, making the job harder.
But a "break" does not guarantee a win. There are many other ways to accomplish the same thing:
Grade "A" shot: This is a shot that has a high probability of success. For example, a good hit will strike an OB first, followed by a second hit that can pocket the OB.
Fancy shot: This skill is rare and requires a lot practice. This is a short, punchy stroke called a "J". Unlike a jab stroke, a "J" stroke is curved, like a pendulum. The shooter can also benefit from a jelly roll, which is a roll made of the cueball.
Fancy-looking. Another term for a fancy-looking shot, is a "flight." Flight is a fancy-looking shot. It is not necessarily the best, but it is certainly the most impressive. Normally, a flight is a low percentage shot, such as a top/bottom spin or a flyer.
Stun shot - While it might not be as glamorous than other types of shots but it is still very important. It's good to keep it close at hand. If you don't, your opponent might easily win.
Other common names for a stun shot are the grade "B" shot, the jelly roll, and the nip draw. What is the most important of these?
A nip draw in pool is a great idea. It keeps the CB off the table. A nip strike is more complex because the follow-through is minimal.
